Welcome to the Carrollton Artist Guild!
We represent a wide array of the area’s most interesting and creative people, and we welcome all artists or “friends of the arts” wishing to become a part of our group. We are excited you have chosen to join our organization, and we look forward to another outstanding year! Since our inception on January 22, 2003, our goal has been to support public awareness of the Visual Arts. Working with the Carroll County Cultural Arts Alliance and the Carrollton Center for the Arts, we strive to provide encouragement and opportunities for artists to promote, exhibit, and sell their artwork.
Guild meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at the Carrollton Center for the Arts. “Coffee and Encouragement” begins at 6:30 followed by the regular meeting at 7:00. These meetings have a business agenda, which includes announcements concerning local and regional shows, classes, and workshops, followed by a program or demonstration of interest to members. Meetings typically end before 9:00 pm.
Opportunities & Benefits
The Artists Guild participates in various events and supports local charities throughout the year. The Empty Bowls Fundraiser benefiting the Carroll County Soup Kitchen and the Cultural Arts Alliance Gala are only two examples. Members continue to exhibit their artwork locally at various establishments and are invited to participate in a July show and the Small Packages show in November at the Cultural Arts Center. The Guild also hosts The Arts Festival of Carrollton. This festival is held annually in October and is our largest event of the year. Because of our growing success and reputation, artists from across the United States return annually for their “fill” of Southern Hospitality.
Guild membership includes responsibilities as well as benefits. As a member, you are asked to support the guild through regular attendance at monthly meetings, as well as volunteering at Guild sponsored events. This includes providing a dish for The Arts Festival of Carrollton’s Saturday night artists dinner, whether or not you are an artist in the show. That Southern Hospitality we are known for stems from this major meal provided for all artists in the show and guild members.
In addition, we ask our guild members help on committees if possible. We have need for people to help with snacks for our meetings, social media, welcoming new members, planning, fundraising and various other roles. These will be discussed regularly at our meetings, but if there is something you feel you can do to help out, let us know!
